Resolutions for Better Sex in 2019

Whether you’re in a committed relationship, or just looking to have more casual hookups, now is the time to start having better sex! In a survey by Varo Money Inc., 25% of respondents made one of their resolutions last year to “have more sex.” While that may seem like a low number, it was actually the third most popular choice! Even if you are completely satisfied with your sex life, there is always something you can do to improve. The best part about having “better sex” is that it means something different to everyone. Maybe you want to increase the frequency or just try new things. No matter what you’re looking for, these tips are sure to help!

1. Be honest with your partner

If you want to have better sex, you need to be honest about what you want! If you want your partner to focus on one body area more than the others, don’t be afraid to let them know! More likely than not they will be happy to oblige. Also, how else will you live out your sexual fantasies? They won’t occur if your partner does not know about them. If it’s just a hookup, this is probably an easier conversation than if you are in a committed relationship. After weighing the pros and cons of discussing your sexual fantasy, if you are serious about it coming to fruition, the only way is through conversation.

2. Ramp up the foreplay

Unless you’re pressed for time, it’s never a bad idea to start with an appetizer before diving into the main course. Even for both genders there are a multitude of benefits from foreplay. Whereas foreplay can help bring women closer to orgasm, it can also help men who suffer from premature ejaculation. Foreplay will also ensure that your entire “sex session” lasts longer, without becoming boring, because you have so many ways to mix it up! Furthermore, it can make the entire session more comfortable and enjoyable as both partners are more aroused and at ease.

3. Be prepared at all times

One of the best ways to have better sex is to have unexpected sex! Deciding on a whim to get it on can be thrilling and exciting. Whether a naughty look from your partner sets you off, or you meet someone at a bar and just want to find the nearest hotel room, one thing is certain: you have to be prepared. A lack of preparedness will either prevent you from having surprise sex, or have you reaping the consequences if you do. Make sure you are always carrying some sort of contraceptive and any medications, like erectile dysfunction pills, if necessary.

4. Try new positions and places

If your sex life is becoming too vanilla, try mixing things up a bit. There are endless ways to switch positions during sex and the best part is trying them all until you find one that works! Maybe they won’t all be the most comfortable or easy, but you could find some new favorites to replace missionary. Furthermore, leaving the bedroom and getting down in some new spots can bring added fun and adventure. If you want to stay in, the shower and kitchen counter are great options. If you’re feeling really adventurous, try taking it outdoors. Just make sure the neighbors don’t see or you’ll have a whole other issue on your hands!

5. Try using toys

Introducing sex toys into your love life could do wonders to enhance the overall pleasure. Many people think sex toys are a solo act, but they work great with a partner as well. If you’re new to the game, start with a simple vibrator to ease into things. Try using it on all different parts of your body as this is a great way to experiment for both genders. Once you introduce sex toys into the bedroom, you can move on to other scandalous items like handcuffs and whips if you so choose. Keep in mind, if you are looking to incorporate ‘cuffs in a casual hookup, keep track of the keys at all times!
