How did you feel about them before the hookup? I was living in Cape Town for a few months last year after coming out of a relationship with another french boy and despite hooking up with one other boy in South Africa (who I really liked) since my break up, somehow I hadn’t gone all the way with anyone for five months. As quite a highly sexed person I was beginning to go a bit mad and one night met this absolutely beautiful guy working at a new bar that had just opened in town. Not being big on one night stands, that left me feeling a bit shit as I didn’t think I’d see or hear from him again and that felt unnatural to me. A month or two later we found one another on Facebook, got chatting and he ended up moving into the room I’d been staying in for a few weeks, I returned to Cape Town two months later and I saw him again once briefly with friends, we texted one another occasionally, but I don’t think there was any question of going there again, I was very attracted to him, but he is young and I’d just started seeing someone back in London, albeit a casual thing. I was also really into someone else (the first boy I’d hooked up with after my break up) in Cape Town. We’re still in touch to this day and if I’m in Paris anytime I’ll definitely try meet up with him for a drink.

Has this hookup changed the way you think about casual sex, sexuality, or yourself in general? Best thing was how empowered I felt, meeting someone not only physically very attractive but he was also genuinely a really lovely person, I made it clear I wanted to sleep with him and did without it being weird or awkward or feeling like I needed more. The worst was letting him take the condom off and going with it at the time, then worrying about having caught and passed something when I hooked up with someone else a few weeks later and their doc had told him he might have recently caught an STD. Thankfully we were given the all clear and I didn’t have to make that call..!

Anything else you want to add about this hookup or anything else? This experience fortified my already healthy attitude towards casual relations and made me feel differently about one night stands, which have in the past been mostly regrettable..I also felt sexually empowered as a woman who went into this knowing what I wanted and getting it, which is predominantly how men work when it comes to casual sex, in my experience. That does not mean however I get off in any way in that he didn’t have an orgasm, as to see someone I like experiencing pleasure is as enjoyable to me as receiving it, But as someone who has great difficulty reaching orgasm in sex, I was kind of overjoyed how easy and pleasurable it all was on this occasion.
