Tell us about your PARTNER(S). What did they look like? How well did you know them, had you hooked up before? How/Where did you meet them? How did you feel about them before the hookup? He was in my high school class, with short dark hair, beautiful lashes and brilliant light blue eyes. The main thing you noticed was the eyes. He was a farm boy and a wrestler in the lower weight classes. We did not run in the same circles, but he was a jovial, nice guy and I was kind of a delinquent.

How/where did the hookup BEGIN? What led to it? Was planning involved? Who instigated it? There was a bar in a very small town 12 miles away where high school kids could drink, even though the legal age was 19. I ran into him there one night in the middle of the week, and we drank beer all night until midnight or so. We were the only students in there that night. We got super drunk and slow danced to to the juke box, while the bar owner looked on.

It was a beautiful breezy night and the grass along the narrow road was high, waving in the wind. The moon was out and we were in his mid 70’s Toronado, which was an enormous land yacht of a car. We were making out in the car, and starting to have sex, first with exploration by hand and then pulling our clothes off. Then I said, “Let’s go onto the hood.” So we go out of the car naked and got on the hood, missionary style. This was before the White Snake video, folks, and in the humid spring air, my skin totally stuck to the car like I was glued onto it. The condom became uncomfortable, and we pulled it off him and threw it in the ditch. But we did the deed and parted ways with him dropping me to my car probably close to dawn, and I slipped home and went to high school the next day.

What was the BEST thing about this hookup? He was gorgeous and a nice guy whow liked to laugh. After I heard that he died I was really glad it had happened, looking back. And the setting was amazing, under a huge prairie night sky and with all the earthy scents of spring.

What was the WORST thing about this hookup? Nothing. This was pre AIDS, herpes, etc., pre cell phone.

What would you like to see changed in that regard? I have spent the last 35 years in two serial monogamous relationships, but I really miss the variety of those younger adventures. My earlier trysts have given me a lot more confidence in my marriages, in that I felt I had taken a pretty good sample before settling down.
